Built in 1973 on a hilltop overlooking Taipei and the Keelung River, the Grand Hotel with its traditional Chinese
Palace-style architecture is not only a magnificent landmark of Taiwan but also an emblem of ancient China. Listed
as one of the world’s top hotels that has for decades played host to dignitaries from around the world, the Grand
Hotel is housed in a 13-story building that features vermilion pillars, stately archways, and a brightly tiled roof. This
roof is currently the largest classical Chinese-style roof in the world. In front of the hotel is the Grand Plaza, which
offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
